Birds

Birds are a large part of my identity- both as a aspecial interest, and for my therianthropy. I've been a "bird guy" to my family for awhile. Whenever anyone got me something animal related, it was either a cat or an owl. A hawk type was my first awakened theriotype (I later awakened as a bird cladotherian). Birds have been one of my special interests since around August of 2025, but in reality, have been one of my stronger interests for much longer.

Flight has always been an interesting thing for me, and my jealousy of birds and their freedom isn't new. Though now, it's less jealousy and more just an appreciation for them and their biology.

Currently, birding is one of my favorite hobbies. I am working on learning to identify many local species, and eventually I'll get to others as well. I eventually want to learn how to do bird vocals but that might be a bit of a stretch, because I don't even know how to whistle yet.

Therianthropy

As I mentioned, a hawk type was my first awakened type. Specifically, a red tailed hawk. I will go more in detail in the alterhumanity tab- but this is the only early theriotype that's actually stayed with me. Around the same time I started considering birds a special interest, I awakened as a bird cladotherian. I can easily look at any bird and see them as a part of myself; I am both birds as a whole, and every species individually. I still sometimes identify as a red tailed hawk specifically, because it was the first and (still is) the strongest.

Favorites

It's hard to pick just one favorite bird. When brought up, most of the time, I just say the mourning dove or the Eurasian jay (the species on my site button). I also have a fondness for birds of prey like osprey and eagles, songbirds, and corvids. Though my true "favorites" list just depends on the day for me. Some more specific species that stand out to me are the harpy eagle, barn owls, titmice, loons, bluejays, rock pigeons, and starlings (unfortunately, they are highly invasive where I live).

When I'm older, I want to get a pet pigeon. Such silly little guys. I've also thought about getting a falconer's liscense in the future, but that's more of a pipe dream than something I'm actually looking at. When I was younger the parakeet was definetly my favorite. I wanted one so bad. I made an entire slides presentation for my mom, LOL. I couldn't get it because we have too many cats.

Collection

I have a multitude of bird related things. Currently, a corner of my room is completely dedicated to them. I have some plushies, feathers I've found and cleaned, some decorative figures, and several misc items (like an owl eraser and a cardinal ornament). It's quite sizable and I don't even have all of my plushies there, simply because I don't have the room. When I move I plan on having a space dedicated to birds that's larger than my current shrine, but what I have for now works.

My favorite item is probably my wooden kiwi. I don't know where I got him, but he looks pretty silly. I also have a loon plush named Gertrude that's been a comfort for me.
